Two different law will implement several increase of the excise tax for alcoholic beverage (in addition to VAT that skip from 21 to 22%) and at the end will be register a jump of +33%.
The first one, “decreto Cultura” is already pass as law and for this reason, already operative. The second one “decreto Scuola” realize a jump to 12,5% (starting from October 10th) and two more step on January 1st 2014 and January 1st 2015. There is time until November 11th (2013) to convert the decree in law.
From this decrees, Italian Government will obtain 200-230 millions euro from extra taxes.
Federvini assert an increase, for alcoholic beverages up to 40% by vol, around 40 euro cents per liter, considering tax innovation authorized in October.
Regarding beer, we will arrive to pay 47% of taxes with the consequent reduction of beer consumption around 3% in volume.
The decrease of wine consumption start years ago and tax return go from 656 millions euro in 2004 to 509 millions euro of 2012. During the first seven months of 2013 we have 255 millions euro of tax return. To the other side, beer, in the same period registered a growth of 100 millions euro.
Above all that to worried Company there are also bureaucratic cost tie at least at three different rise in price list and surety ship on alcohol toward government in just three months.
