Changed the measure to rise the excise tax for the beer from the first of March 2014
Decree to support school and university foresee a growth of 2,66 euro/hl from the beginning of October 2013. Starting from January 1st 2014, beer could be increase of 2,39 euro/hl.
Right now it is not clear how much beer tax will rise and if but for sure, the decree approved by the Senate that is ready to be discuss at the Camera to become law, doesn't foresee additional taxes on consumption.
Assobirra calculated that the increase of the excise will become an increase of the price for the final consumer between 7 and 10% and a consequent decrease of consumption of 5/6%.
At the end of everything we will haven't extra money from taxes and the total amount of the excise and beer taxes in general, will decrease of 5% respect 2012 for a total decrease of 200 millions euro.
